With the weather warming up – please take time to have a read of the below and remember “Pick up the phone . . . not the Snake! “

Timeline Photos
The Northern Territory has some of the most venomous snakes in the World…but this doesn’t mean you need to fear them – but a healthy respect goes a long way. An encounter with a snake is generally a rare occurrence – they’ve usually picked up your vibrations and headed off in the opposite direction. But if you come across one and you’re already very close – just stand still and it will move away. If you see one from a distance – please don’t approach them – some of our more aggressive species will feel threatened with your approach. Remember…snake identification is extremely hard and never assume a snake is non-venomous. If you encounter a problem snake – pick up the phone, not the snake! Although you may have seen snake catchers on TV a thousand times – it’s is a professional skill that takes lots of practice and training. For assistance with problem snakes and other large reptiles:
Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas 1800 453 210, Katherine 0407 934 252 & Alice Springs 0407 983 276. Put them in your phone today (goodness knows…you don’t want to be googling madly with a problem snake nearby!).
