Short History

At H-Net we are always looking for things that are a bit different. And sure enough Pole-Fit is exactly that – just a little bit different. In August 2012 it was finally time to open the doors of the first ever Pole-Dance Studio in Central Australia. Being a fitness instructor and a passionate dancer for over 15 years Dina Schmid Studio_outsidediscoverd her love for “the Pole” and very quickly decided that we at H-Net would open a Pole Studio in the Desert – Desert Pole-Fit was born. Although Poledancing and Polefit is one of the fastest growing exercise forms in Australia and the rest of the world, we knew it would not be easy to build a worthwhile business, especially in a community like Alice Springs.

Pole Fitness as an art, science, and sport has progressed significantly in the past several years

With the opening of Desert Pole-Fit, H-Net has brought this awesome sport to the Red Centre to share it with the people of Alice Springs.

At the end of 2014 we came close to shutting down Desert Pole-Fit, as the sale of the rented property forced us rethink and decide if we want to keep on running a Pole-Studio in Alice Springs. After long nights with going thru all possible scenaAbout-new-studio-outsiderios, we came to the conclusion that it cannot be over just yet. If we would find a suitable location again, we will give it another go.
On 10th November, we have reopened at our new location. Keep on poling Alice Springs!



What is Pole-Fit?

When someone hears the words pole dancing, the image that automatically comes to mind is generally not pole fitness, however pole dancing is now a mainstream form of fitness with gyms around the world now accepting this physical form of fitness and dance because it offers an all over workout that is fun and more appealing than the Pole_Girl_holdingusual workouPOle_Girl_Archts – is it sexy? Sure it is, but what is wrong with women who do not want to be and feel sexy.

Pole-fit is a form of exercise that includes Dance moves, Gymnastics, and Acrobatics on and around a Pole.

It is an awesome way to tone your body, shape your muscles (and with that burn fat), increase your flexibility, cardio fitness and your general health.In small groups (up to 6) you learn spectacular spins and choreographies in a short period of time, encouraged by the other members of your group.

A typical pole dance exercise regimen in class begins with strength training, dance-based moves, squats, push-ups, and sit-ups and gradually works its way up to the spins, climbs and inversions which are the métier of the exercise. Pole dancing is also empowering for women in terms of building self-confidence.

That is a clear no. It takes tremendous strength and body control, especially upper body and around your core, to perform crazy moves on a pole. We are almost certain that most men that believe they are strong and tough are in fact too weak to keep up with female poledancers.

Did you know that the likes of no lesser than Jason Stateham and Jude Low have taken up Pole Dancing to get fit? It’s not all frills and heels, but it can be for women.

Pole-Fit for Kids

Ever watched kids on the playground? They love to climb up, spin around and hang off things in all sorts of ways. It is in the nature of the kids and therefore they learn very quick how to climb and hang off the pole. Since it is in their nature, the kids can be active and enjoy the moves they learn in a fun way. In order to become a professional Poledancer it is never to early to start. But parents, if you have a problem with the thought that your child will end up in a strip club, than have a look at what the sport of Professional Pole Dancing is about. Because we are sure that you do not have a problem to send your child to Ballet or Circus, the combination of the two is Pole-Dancing
